So, this is our first post for 2015 and first of all we want to wish you a Happy New Year, I hope you all have a paw-some year full of happy moments. The first days of this year have been really cold in our country, we had forgotten what it’s like to have a real winter I guess. In these cold, bitter winter days I believe we all worry about our four-footed family. If we are still cold while wearing many layers of clothes and staying in heated places, imagine how our dogs feel. You sure wouldn’t want your dog to have a cold nose, or a runny nose for worse, and that is why we made this post on how to keep our dogs warm in this cold winter.


As we all know there are some kind of dog breeds that are more tolerant to the cold than others, so they can adapt they body temperature and get warm faster. The first important thing is that you have a deep knowledge about your dog’s breed. There are dogs that adapt well in the cold like Siberian Huskies, Alaskan Malamutes, Chow Chows etc. And there are dogs that find it harder to deal with the cold like Dobermans, low hair or hairless dogs, Greyhounds etc.

The surest way to keep your dogs away from the cold is to keep them indoors as long as you can. But, of course they will always want they daily walk outside, so it is important to take some measures before that. Keeping their paws warm and safe. The soles of your dog’s feet are very important for him in regulating his body temperature. Getting some booties for him to wear when he goes outside is the best way to protect his feet. Besides keeping your dog warm, the booties will also protect him from salt and other chemicals that are used to melt the snow that can irritate the skin in his feet. Not all dogs are good at keeping the boots on, but you can try to train your buddy and hopefully he will love them. Make him a warm doghouse. If your dog sleeps outdoors in a doghouse you should take care to make his place as warm as yours. The bed should be at least 3 inches off the floor, and you can provide him a heater, or a heating bed, and if you don’t have any of those, some bottles filled with warm water can help too. Keep his water warm, so it doesn’t freeze. Again if your dog stays outdoors, you might want to buy a warming device to keep his water warm. Feed him well. Your furry friends sure need a little more food during this cold season, but as I just said a little , ‘cause you sure wouldn’t want your dog to gain unhealthy weight. And last but not least, just give them all the love and cuddles to warm their hearts.

Warm jackets and sweaters

To keep their body warm you can get them jackets or sweaters for them to wear inside and outside. For the outside use I would recommend you choose something that is waterproof, so they don’t get wet from the snow. You can check out some cool sweaters in our shop too ;)

Keeping their paws warm and safe
